Community School Advisory Committee (CSAC)

The Community School Advisory Committee (CSAC) connects students, families, staff, and community partners in one collaborative space. Together, we share ideas, set priorities, and co-create solutions that reflect our school’s vision and the real needs of our community.

CSAC is a core part of the California Community Schools Framework and helps ensure decisions are rooted in lived experiences, shared ownership, and accountability.

What does the CSAC do?

  • Ensures our programs are welcoming, equitable, and meet the needs of all students and families.

  • Reviews school data, surveys, and feedback to guide where we focus time, energy, and resources.

  • Works with school leaders to decide the best ways to use the community school budget to support students and families.

Each committee also shares recommendations with district leaders so site-level voices help guide district-wide strategies. Join us to share your ideas, represent your community, and help shape the future of Central Coast High School. Your voice matters here.

What is English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)?

The English Learner Advisory Committee, ELAC, promotes a meaningful connection between parent/guardians of English learners (ELs) and school personnel. The main purpose is to create a forum for open, culturally responsive exchanges on topics important to parents and guardians of English learners and recently redesignated English proficient students. A functioning ELAC is required for any school site with 21 or more English Learners.

The ELAC shall be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). Districts with 31 or more ELACs may use a system of proportional or regional representation.

In addition, DELAC (District English Learners Advisory Committee) meets several times a year. Representatives from each school's ELAC committee and administration meet to discuss the services the district provides.
