State alerts schools leaders about new brightly-colored fentanyl

Fentanyl, an extremely potent and dangerous synthetic opioid, continues to be a major contributor to drug overdoses in California, including among youth. The state alerted education leaders this week reminding them about the concerning trends of opioid overdoses and warning them about a new brightly-colored fentanyl.

Class of 2023 High School Graduation

Congratulations Class of 2023. We look forward to celebrating our graduates from Central Coast High, Marina High, Monterey High, Seaside High and Monterey Adult School on Friday, June 2 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.

Our District English Learner Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity on English learner programs and services.

AB 104: Pupil instruction, retention, grade changes, and exemptions

Assembly Bill 104 includes provisions in the area of student retention, pass/no pass grades, and local graduation requirements exemption. If students and their families are interested in any of these three options, please contact the Education Services Department at 831-645-1200.

January 27 Town Hall Archives and PowerPoint Presentation

Free Food Boxes for Families

LIMITED TIME: Thanks to a grant from the USDA, for the next five weeks (beginning week of January 25 through February 22) MPUSD will offer free food boxes to its families. You will recall this option was available for a brief period late last year. Thank you USDA for your support!

Educators will be forced to overcome this budget challenge — offering services despite the lack of adequate resources. We shouldn’t have to. It is a reflection of our societal values that we continue to underfund our schools while relying on them to be the primary institution responsible for meeting the needs of our most vulnerable populations.
